When Jamie Gilmore and Brittney Thompson joined the firm on January 1, 2023, Scott Law Firm became Scott Gilmore Thompson. Now, just three short months later, SGT has its first jury verdict! On Monday, a Tarrant County jury found SGT client, Richard Grissom, was unlawfully terminated from his job with Ridgeback Group, Inc. because of his disability, and awarded him $25,000 in back wages. The jury also assessed $60,000 in punitive damages against Ridgeback Group, Inc..
"This was a really just verdict for Mr. Grissom. The numbers aren't huge, but the case was never about money to him. And we're just very thankful for the jury's verdict," said Matt Scott. "Tarrant County is still a very conservative venue, and to get a unanimous verdict awarding punitive damages, I feel like we really drove the case home to the jury," said Jamie Gilmore.
The case is Richard Grissom v Ridgeback Group, Inc., case number 348-329873-21, in the 348th Judicial District Court of Tarrant County, Texas.
